Governance models have not kept pace.

In financial services and healthcare, governance is stricter: segmented access, mandatory human checkpoints, immutable audit logs. In retail and HoReCa, adoption is faster but control is weaker. That creates a structural risk gap between industries.
VIII. What a governance-ready architecture looks like
Enterprise AI governance in 2026 must be built into the architecture, not exist as a separate policy. Key elements: (1) taxonomy of actions by risk level; (2) dynamic permission control; (3) logging of decision graphs, not just text; (4) automatic fallback mechanisms; (5) synchronizing policies with model updates. Governance becomes part of the execution layer.

CTO: AI becomes part of infrastructure, not an app. CISO: The attack surface includes workflow abuse and execution manipulation. Head of CX: Customer trust depends on the reliability of autonomous actions.

Agentic systems are already in production. The question is no longer whether AI can perform a task. It is under what conditions it is allowed to perform it. Companies that treat agentic AI as an “advanced chatbot” will face operational instability.
